Puzzle Games
Puzzle games you can play instantly in your browser: the tangram, Archimedes' 14-piece Ostomachion, crate pushing in warehouses and falling blocks.
PuzzleTangram
Seven flat pieces cut from one square. They always cover the same area, so every silhouette needs all seven — the only question is which way round they go.
- All thirteen convex shapes, ordered easiest to hardest by solutions we counted
- Pieces snap to corners, so a solution is exact — never almost
- The famous square is last: it has exactly one solution
PuzzleOstomachion
One target shape and 536 different ways to reach it. The game is not solving the square — it is collecting the ways you have solved it.
- Every finished square is identified: which of the 536 you built, and whether it is new
- We ran the count ourselves and got Cutler's 536 — and the 17,152 behind it
- Turning your square round does not make it a second solution, and the check knows that
PuzzleCrates
Push every wooden crate onto its marked target while avoiding corners, blocked paths and moves that cannot be reversed.
- Classic warehouse puzzles
- Keyboard and touch controls
- Undo and quick restart
PuzzleInlay
Drop colourful blocks onto the grid, clear complete rows and columns, build combos and chase your best score. No timer, no pressure.
- No timer or pressure
- Row and column combos
- Saved high score
Puzzles with a designed answer, not a rule you can reason your way out of. Somebody arranged each level so that it works exactly one way, or a small handful of ways, and finding that way is the whole job.
That makes them different from the games in Math & Logic next door, where a single mathematical idea decides everything and understanding it wins the game outright. Here the understanding is local: this crate is stuck, that piece has to go in first.
Where a puzzle has something countable behind it, we count it rather than guess — the thirteen convex tangram shapes on this site, and the number of genuinely different solutions each of them has, both came out of a search we ran ourselves.
